Viva Las Vegas!

So this week was little busy for part of the Sims Family. At the beginning of the week, London and I went to Vegas to help our my brother and sister-in-law, while Dave was having surgery on his synis. Six months old and she's already crossed two state lines! As this was London's first road trip I wasn't quite sure what to expect. But, I figured it would be a good trial run for when we go to California in October. I certainly learned a few things:

1. Changing diapers in the car is not easy (especially if they are really poopie and don't exactly stay in the dipaer)
2. Bring more outfits than you need (in case of afore mentioned poopie diapers)
3. Sometimes, you just need a break from the carseat. You might have to stop more than you intend.
4. Nursing in the car may not be all that comforable or convienant.

All in all, London didn't do too bad. She was doing fine until St. George and then she was ready for a break. I'll be more prepared for going to California.

It was fun to see Dave, Haylie, Emma, Leif, and Noah. We had lots of fun watercoloring, playing with playdough, swimming in the kiddie pool, and playing hide and seek.(I certainly know how to live it up in Vegas!)  Emma, Leif, and Noah have the beginnings of first class hiders. They just have to learn not to giggle while you're looking for them. London was constantly entertained by her older cousins.

But, it was nice to come home.  There's nothing like sleeping in your own bed. Drew and Frankie missed us. He was really sweet and had the house picked up and the living room vaccummed. It was nice to come home and not finding things in choas. I guess the old adage is true "Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home"

Let's make a deal!!

Well, things are starting to look up! London and I are no longer sick! YAY!

...and then I threw my back out. The good times just keep on coming.

Hopefully after tomorrows visit to the chiropractor, things will be in better shape.

London has rolled over! Drew has also witnessed this so I am not hallucinating or crazy (well, any more crazy than usual at any rate.) We had her laid out on her stomach on the the floor, when she flipped herself over. She seemed a little dazed, and looked like she was wondering what Mommy and Daddy were getting so excited about. We tried to get her to do it again, but she wouldn't here of it! She laid her head down and cried. This is the third time that she's pulled this stunt. We decided that was enough for the day, but I'm confident it will become more of a habit.

I've been trying to get into this whole coupon craze that is going on. People are tightening their budgets, and we are no exception. So, I make the rounds before I go grocery shopping and collect my coupons from the different sites available. I check the weekly ad for several different stores hunting for the best deals. Sometimes its seems a little overwhelming. Most of the coupons I find are for products that I don't even use anyway, because they are usually more expensive than what I would normally buy, and I can't find coupons for the products that I do buy. Grocery shopping is starting to feel like a marathon event. I often find myself feeling inadequate and wondering if it's really worth all the time and energy that I have to put into it (there are people who seems to do it a lot better than I do) but, at least I'm trying. And I think it's making somewhat of a different to our grocery bills and budget. If any of you bloggers out there have any suggestions they would be welcome. Tomorrow the race begins, we'll see how I do this time.

Why Me?!?

Do you ever find yourself asking yourself that question in a moment of self pity? Well, this week it is apparently my turn to ask that question.
The week started of great. I had Memorial Day off, and was able to spend time with my wonderful family. Then, Tuesday came. London started coughing, sneezing, and running a fever. Diagnosis: my baby has a cold. But, wait...there's more. I also started coughing, sneezing, and having a sore throat, a sore throat which has made talking at any volume next to impossilbe. Diagnosis: I also had my baby's cold. This has continued for the rest of the week. Thankfully, London seems to be getting better. Loving infant tylenol and humindifiers. I on the other hand am having a harder time getting rid of it, and today I managed to iritate my left eye as well. One trip to the optomytrist and a bottle of eye drops later, it is still red and swollen.
These events have lead me to ask the above question...Why me?!!?

What a week!

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was a time of great joy and a time of great sorrow..." Wow, Dickens really knew what he was talking about! Lots of things this week. I'll give you the "worst of times" first. Well, Saturday we took our beloved dog, Ziggy, to Salt Lake to be taken to a new home. It was not working out with London, and Ziggy was way too much to handle. But at least I think she is in a better home environment that can give her the attention she needs. So, Frankie, our other dog, is back to being by herself, which she doesn't seem to be minding one bit.
Now for the best of times. Also on Saturday I went to a baby shower for my friend Rachel. For my baby shower gift, I made my first diaper cake! No, this is not an actual cake. It is diapers in three tiers to resemble a cake. It didn't turn out half bad, if I do say so myself. I also put some mittens, teething rings, and a rattle in it as well. Unfortunately, the top tier came off while I was heading into the shower. The rattle in the cake was pink. Kyle, Rachel's husband, has already threatened me that if their little boy ends of liking pink I am the one going to be blamed for it. Well, too bad!
But the best part of all,London was blessed on Sunday! Most of our family and friends we invited were there, with a few surprises. One of our good friends who lives in Alabama, surprised us and was able to come! It was so good to see him and catch up for the few days he was here. And two of our other friends that I wasn't sure would come, but was hoping they would, also came. London looked so cute in her little dress, and was quiet while Drew was doing her blessing. It was a beautiful experience to see her surrounded by her father, both grandfathers, her great-grandfather, and some of our closest friends. I'm grateful to have such supportive friends and family that could share that with us.
Afterwards, we had everyone round to our house for cake and ice cream. And of course everyone wanted to hold and play with London. She was a bit tuckered out after that! But, she is the sweetest, happiest little girl. I'm continually amazed with how much she's growing and changing all the time. She trying really hard to sit herself up, but can't quite make it. She's not big enough yet. She's also getting really good a lifting her head up on her own and looking around. She cries after a little bit, but she's still doing really well.
I can't believe that she's three months old already!
Other great news is that London is finally sleeping at night! I am of course very excited about this as it means I get to sleep too.

Finally the First Post!

So, after seeing almost everyone else I know start blogging, I decided to do the same. That however, was a few months ago! I actually have a few minutes to post, yay!
Here's a quick update in the life of the Sims Family.
We had a baby! A gorgeous little girl named London. She's almost 3 months old now and continues to surprise us all the time with the cute things she does. She discovered that she can put her hand in her mouth and now tries to put the whole thing in..which doesn't quite fit. And she's finally beginning to catch on to the whole "sleep through the night thing" which means I actually get to sleep.
Drew is still working at Directpointe as a Systems Admin during the graveyard shift. He likes it there and they seem to like him. We're working on getting him back into school at BYU. He's got about a year and a half to two years before he'll graduate.
Besides being a mom, I'm also working at Directpointe,part-time, in the mornings. This has been good because then Drew is home in the mornings to watch London. Though this means that he doesn't always get as much sleep as he would like, but at least we don't have to try to put her into daycare. And I'm bringing in additional income to help pay on our medical bills.
We're still in Utah with our two dogs,Frankie and Ziggy, so there is always craziness at our house. And that is the Sims Family so far.
